Environmental Consultations

Radon is estimated to cause about 21,000 lung cancer deaths per year, according to the EPA's 2003 Assessment of Risks from Radon in Homes (EPA-407-R-03-003)

U.S. Surgeon General Health Advisory

"Indoor radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States and breathing it over prolonged periods can present a significant health risk to families all over the country. It's important to know that this threat is completely preventable."

 January 2005

It is highly recommend to measure the indoor concentration level of radon in Montgomery, Howard, Frederick counties, in Northern Virginia and in the District of Columbia.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and the Surgeon General strongly recommend that further action be taken for reducing the level of radon when the home's radon test results are 4.0 pCi/L or greater ("Action Level").
